Bumpercar World Speed Record Attempt

Can a bumper car really do 200 km/h? This is the beginning of the Tink Customs project to build a world's fastest bumper car, with a target speed of 200 km/h (approximately 125 mph).

The existing bumper car speed record is a little over 100 mph, so the goal is to go considerably faster using a completely different approach to the design and engineering.

The plan is to start with a genuine bumper car or dodgem shell and build a high-speed machine underneath it. That means a custom-fabricated chassis, a suitable performance engine, custom components, wheels and a roll-over structure — along with plenty of fabrication and engineering challenges along the way.

I've already contacted Guinness World Records to establish the requirements, rules and vehicle specifications for a legitimate record attempt.

The first major challenge is finding and transporting a suitable bumper car. They're increasingly rare, and the potential donor cars we've located are a long way from the Tink Customs workshop.

This video introduces the project and explains what I'm hoping to achieve. The project has since progressed considerably, although it is currently shelved while funding and resources are sorted out.
